Historic Skylight Restoration
Historic skylight restoration is one of the most difficult tasks we undertake. To bring an old skylight back to a functioning part of the building envelope is almost an art. We disassemble, clean, prime and paint the framing. We replace the gaskets and install new safety glass in place of the dated and dangerous old glazing. We also clean, paint, gasket and reinstall the capping system and flashing to give a piece of history a new life. We have even gone as far as to cover a true piece of history with a new skylight manufactured in a similar design to protect the old unit and keep its history alive.
